The Town of Taylorsville unanimously approved the town’s budget for the next fiscal year with no increase in the current millage of 3.80 at the regular first Thursday meeting on September 9.

Members of the Taylorsville Volunteer Fire Department addressed the guidelines for the use of the fire station with the board, asking that they be allowed to handle the scheduling. They were agreeable to any local group meeting there, but asked that the groups not be charged a fee. The exception to a fee would be if there was a for-profit event.

The board unanimously agreed to lease one room in the old town hall to Farm Bureau for $200 per month. The lease will begin October 1, 2010.

Bids for a seized vehicle at the Taylorsville Police Department were taken under advisement

The board went into executive session to discuss personnel. A dispatcher for the Taylorsville Police Department, Charlotte McNeil, was hired.

The Town has adopted two ordinances, one banning the sale, possession, and/or distribution of Synthetic Cannabinoid, also known as SPICE, in the city limits of Taylorsville.

The other ordinance is in regard to the renaming of Hollow Street/ North Street, which will now be known as Eaton Street.
