Daniel A. Brown faces aggravated assault charges for shooting Zachary McCullum in the neck. According to Sheriff Charlie Crumpton, the Sunday afternoon shooting occurred over a domestic dispute. “Avery Brown fled into the woods afterwards, but later surrendered to deputies,” Crumpton said. The shooting took place on SCR 78 at around 4:00 p.m.

Husband and wife, Daniel and Judith McGee, arrested on October 8, 2011, were charged with arson in connection with the fire at the Kwik Kurb in Taylorsville, according Sheriff Crumpton. The fire destroyed what was known as Nita’s Kwik Kurb on September 15, 2011. “We have a good case against the two,” the sheriff said.

Sheriff Crumpton said burglaries are up in the county and all over because of the bad economy. He advised everyone, to “Lock your doors and be more observant. We have increased the patrols around the county.”
