“Hi, I would just like to commend Chris Carpenter for his Letter to the Editor in the February 8 issue. That was a grand idea, and he hit the nail on the head. This is exactly what Bay Springs needs, and it serves Bay Springs right if all the tax dollars go to Jones County or to Lauderdale County because Bay Springs is too backward to let people determine whether they can’t drink-ah-have an alcoholic drink with their dinner or not. How ridiculous.”––Female

“This is to the lady who called in last week about the EBT cards at the Dollar General and everyone like her. I got one word for you: j-o-b. Get a job. If you’re ashamed to use an EBT card, use something green called money and work for it. Thank you.”––Female

“Please print this. Bubba and Curt Shumock are good, trustworthy people. Then you go and slander their names, saying they do shotty work at the firehouse in Vossburg. I know they don’t do shotty work. They have worked for us about four different occasions. Great work. We all know this is to get back at Mr. Henry Hayes. You have probably ruined the Shumock’s good name and reputation. Whoever said the work is shotty is lying. Thank you.”––Female

“I would just like to say that I agreed with Mr. Carpenter’s Letter to the Editor recently and this is more about is Bay Springs moving forward or are we going backwards. Do we want any knew restaurants in town or do we want to the restaurants we have now? Or do we all wanna move and go somewhere else? Thank you.”––Female

“I’m calling about the opportunity for the restaurants to sell beer in Bay Springs. There’s not anything that’s happened in the last, ah, 10-15 years to improve the economy of the retail business in Bay Springs and I think we should allow the restaurants to do so, so that we could improve the tax revenues in town.”––Male

“Regarding legalization of wine and alcoholic drinks in Bay Springs restaurants. Yes, it’s possible that a person could leave a restaurant after a couple of drinks and be involved in an accident that may kill someone. But what about the people that I have seen in Bay Springs going into stores, buying beer, opening it and starting to drink it before they even get to their car. That person is probably more impaired than one leaving a restaurant after a drink. At least a meal would aid in absorbing the alcohol.”––Female

“About serving alcoholic drinks in restaurants, have you ever seen a person sitting alone in a restaurant drinking to get drunk? No. Because that’s what bars and honky tonks are for. People go to restaurants to enjoy a drink with their dinner or socially with friends, and the purpose is not to get drunk. The law prohibiting alcohol is made for stupid people who can not make wise decisions. A person with any sense knows when he should not drive. Thank you.”––Female

“On the matter of legalizing the sale of wine and alcohol in restaurants, it’s up to our board of aldermen to decide if the people of Bay Springs deserve the chance to be trusted to act responsibly. A thumbs down from them will make it obvious that their people in their eyes can not be trusted. So, how would it make you feel? Think about it, voters. Thank you.”––Female
