Magnolia State Bank is pleased to announce that Kris Mangum has joined the management team of Magnolia State Bank as loan officer and public relations. He will handle business and personal loan requests as well as developing new Magnolia State Bank relationships within the Petal and Hattiesburg area.

Mangum graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in public administration. At Ole Miss he received All Southeastern Conference and All American honors. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 1997, where he had a successful 10 year career. Mangum still ranks fifth in all time games played and fifth in all time receiving in Panther’s history. In 2003 Mangum played in Super Bowl XXXIII as the NFC champion Panthers narrowly lost to the Patriots. He retired from the NFL in 2007 and this past football season he took the position of tight ends coach at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Mangum is a native of Magee. He married Mary Ellen Coleman of Petal and they have four children, Ally, Molly, Macy, and Kristofer, Jr. They have resided in Petal since 2001.
