A seventeen-year old male was injured Tuesday night, August 14, in a one-vehicle versus tree accident on Highway 184 in the Powers community.

At 7:35 p.m. medical first responders and rescue units with Powers and Glade Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the accident where a white Pontiac Bonneville had left the road and crashed into a tree.

According to a nearby neighbor the young man was unresponsive when he reached the vehicle and the doors were locked. Powers rescue personnel had to break the windows to unlock the vehicle for medical first responders to attend to the young man.

Officials on scene identified the young man as 17-year old Isaac Defrance, who was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ ambulance in stable condition.

The cause of the accident is unknown and remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the scene was Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Jones County Fire Council Chaplain Brother Drew Blanton.
